RESEARCH INTERESTS
Hello, my name is Janelle Goodwill and I am an
Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago
School of Social Service Administration.
​
My reserach explores topics at the intersections of mental health, race and gender- with a particular focus on suicide and depression in Black Americans. In doing so, I employ a series of qualitative and quantitative methods to explore psychological factors that promote mental wellness and prevent adverse outcomes (e.g. suicide ideation and attempt).
​
I earned my MSW, MS, and PhD in Social Work and Psychology from the University of Michigan. Additionally, I completed my undergraduate studies at Michigan State University. Information detailing some of my published works is listed below.
